REPRESENTATIVE PROJECTS
- For BEAUTY BRANDS, a Kansas City retail organization
of spa-salon superstores, analyzed their distribution operations to handle
the vigorous growth of the retail stores from 35 to over 120 stores in
the next four years. Designed and implemented their move to a 120,000
sf. DC which incorporates a RF paperless environment, pallet racking in
flammable and aerosol areas, promotional picking areas and a two-level
picking mezzanine feeding eight consolidation and labeling stations. Specified,
sourced and implemented new WMS and pick-to-light operations.
- For KATE SPADE, high-end designer handbags in Secaucus
NJ, re-engineered all operations, designed layout, established inventory
location system, worked with architects and equipment vendors, and implemented
their new DC. Currently performing a gap analysis leading toward
the specification and RFP for a WMS system and conversion from paper to
RF picking and packing.
- For SAFILO USA, Parsippany, NJ, a $500 million major
importer and distributor of designer eyewear, consolidated 3 buildings
into one 150,000 sf. facility. Conducted the operations study, layout,
vendor specifications, bid process and implementation. Supported the same
day order processing and fulfillment by incorporating forward pick, batch
picking via RF to bar coded totes. Achieved significant gains in productivity,
accuracy and customer service.
- For SAFILO USA, designed their new 120K sf. facility
in Denver, CO, to handle their expanding retail sunglass lines. Utilizes
put-to-light pick/pack area for distributing orders to mass merchants.
- For WTD Supply / Weiss Tool a distributor
of high-end automotive tools, designed, selected site, sourced vendors,
and implemented the installation of their new Jacksonville DC. Currently
revising layouts, picking/shipping processes and instituting location and
inventory systems in their other five nationwide DCs.
- For INTERTAPE POLYMER GROUP, a $850 million manufacturer
of package sealing products, designed and project managed the construction,
layout and implementation of their new 200,000 sf. regional DC in Danville
VA. Managed the entire project including the order profile and through-put
study, layout design, equipment specifications and bidding process, vendor
and contractor selection. Worked with the architect and builder on
building design and construction. Supervised the installation of VNA racking,
pallet flow lanes, tri-level case pick module (designed for conveyor case
picking and sortation in 2007).
- For INTERTAPE POLYMER designed and project managed their
new 150,000 sf. Utah manufacturing and distribution facility. Provided
the layout, equipment specifications, supervised the bidding process, the
installation of VNA wire guided equipment, the implementation of an RF
paperless WMS system and coordinated employee training.
- For MOVADO, NJ, a $300 million leading worldwide designer,
manufacturer and distributor of prestige watches to retail stores and designer
boutiques, consolidated its distribution and storage operations into a
single 100,000 sf. facility. Located the manufacturing, repair and support
staff operations; designed storage and picking operations within a secure,
vault environment; streamlined the kitting and value added operations;
provided for carousels with takeaway conveyors to facilitate a put-to order
process.
- For HOWARD BERGER, a distributor of hardware and fasteners
in the tri-state NYC area, re-engineered their operations and designed
their new 150,000 sf. (plus 21K sf. mezzanines) distribution center in
Monroe Township, NJ. The design incorporates narrow-aisle pallet
storage (12,000 locations) and case picking, with piece picking from mezzanine
shelving to consolidation areas in shipping via conveyors. Recently
engineered moving a newly acquired product line into facility.
- For MSC Industrial Supply, a $900 million direct, same
day, distributor of over 450,000 SKUs of industrial hardware, tools and
supplies, designed their new 300,000 sf. Reno, NV DC incorporating tri-level
picking mezzanines, high bay shelving, VNA pallet storage, carousels, pick-to-light
flow racks, bar coded totes on conveyor, multi-station order consolidation
and high speed parcel sortation. Provided equipment specs and supervised
bidding process.
- For MSC Industrial Supply, Atlanta facility, designed
the replacement and upgrade of the existing tri-level mezzanine / packing
tote sortation system to provide addition SKU locations while doubling
packing throughputs. Managed the layout design, equipment specifications
and bidding process, vendor and contractor selection, tri-level picking
and packing mezzanine expansions, decking replacement, conveyor removal
and installation, and sortation lanes to dock doors. Installation
accomplished on time and without interference to or delay of any customer
orders.
- WORLDPAC – 123,000 sf. DC in Edison, New Jersey. 40,000
SKUs, 150 employees, 1,400 same day orders, express carriers, company trucks. Nationwide
distributor of automotive repair and replacement parts for imported vehicles;
ships to 31 branch replenishment outlets as well as to individual repair
shops on a same and next-day basis. Designed and implemented the
operation consisting of narrow aisle pallet racking, high-bay shelving
and a two-level picking mezzanine serviced by picking to tote, conveyor
transport system.
